The Dance Center of Greensboro

The Dance Center of Greensboro offers 16 ballet classes per week. Classes consist of Cecchetti ballet syllabus as well as non-syllabus open technique. Our ballet program focuses on the proper development of each ballet dancer through proper alignment, correct technique, musicality, strength and quality of movement. Non-syllabus classes are essential for learning unseen enchainments and learning additional steps and variations for both male and female dancers. Cecchetti Syllabus classes are examination classes help inspire young dancers to reach to their full potential as they progress level to level, exactly as they do in school. Each of our ballet students, registered in ballet level 1-2 or higher, are eligible to perform in DCG's annual Nutcracker Ballet performances. Please contact the main office at (336) 271-8177 for the specific class schedule which coincides with our non-company Nutcracker rehearsals if your ballet dancer would like to perform in DCG's Holiday tradition.

Our goal concerning our ballet students is to progress them to an advanced level which includes dancing en Pointe. While some studios may offer specific pre-pointe and pointe classes; The Dance Center of Greensboro recognizes that pointe is an extension of advanced level ballet. All level 4, and higher, classes incorporate pre-pointe and pointe into our 90 minute ballet classes. Our ballet faculty will discuss, with each dedicated ballet dancer, their progression towards pointe shoes and when is the right time to begin pointe training.
