- If you choose to drink at an event, let a sober individual drive you home. This is a designated driver. They can chauffeur you in your car or in another vehicle. Give your car keys to someone trustworthy before you start drinking.
- Worst comes to worst, leave your vehicle, and take alternative transportation home. Many restaurants and bars will often gladly let you remain parked there overnight. Consider riding with a friend, or taking public transportation like a taxi, Uber® or Lyft®. Return for your vehicle later.
Most importantly, trust yourself and those around you. If you ever have any doubt that you can drive safely, don’t risk it. It’s much better to choose not to drink rather than risk it behind the wheel. Consider safety first, and you likely won’t regret it.
