require seat belt use in vehicles? The law hit the books in 1984. Now most states require seatbelt use by adults and children.
On a personal note I can remember back in the day when all we had were lap seat belts and whenever my father put on the brakes real hard, he would hold me back from going forward with his hand. Old school seat belts!!
